Louise Hill
I’m a painter, illustrator and glass artist based in Cornwall. My work is inspired by folklore, fairy tales and the landscape around me. I’m drawn to the idea that familiar places can still hold a little mystery — hidden creatures, old stories, strange flowers and small moments of magic.
My paintings are often about memory, comfort and imagination, while my glass work is more rooted in the landscape itself — its changing light, colours and atmosphere. I like the contrast between the two ways of working. Illustration is more predictable, while glass always keeps a little of the outcome to itself. That unpredictability is part of what I love about it.

I’m a glass artist and illustrator inspired by landscape, organic forms and the stories places seem to hold. I’m drawn to darker, moodier imagery and to the supernatural — the feeling that a landscape can be beautiful, bleak and slightly unsettling all at once.
I’m especially interested in places that feel weathered, remote or a little uncanny, and in the marks left by time, weather and human presence. My work often starts with atmosphere rather than a fixed image, and I like allowing a piece to develop as I work.
